Description
Cold weather heat pumps were originally developed to operate in harsh winter conditions. These air to water hydronic heat pumps are the most advanced cold weather air source heat pumps on the market. Producing positive heat when outdoor temperatures drop to -15 F (-25 C), cold weather heat pumps are designed specifically for northern climates.
Everything has two sides, and your home's climate control is no exception. Cold weather heat pumps not only produce heat, they also cool. Leomon heat pumps are specifically designed for heating in the winter and cooling in the summer. The result? Faster payback, greater flexibility, higher energy savings, and better functionality. Don't be afraid of your climate, use a heat pump to take advantage of it.

How Does It Work?
EVI Heat Pump with DC Inverter - Operates Down to -22 F (-30 C)
This air-to-water heat pump is the most efficient cold weather heat pump on the market. It heats and cools with over 70% less energy than conventional heating units. It does this using an Enhanced Vapor Ejector (EVI) and a true DC variable compressor.
Cold climate heat pumps harness the energy in the air. By using a specialized enhanced steam injection system to increase heating capacity and COP, the energy in the air is transferred through an oversized evaporator to the subcooled R410a Freon inside the unit. This energy is then transferred to the compressor where it is compressed causing its temperature to increase to a very hot gas. The hot gas then passes through a plate heat exchanger where it is transferred to a glycol heating solution and pumped into the house. This hot fluid is then stored in a buffer tank where it can be distributed to the house through any hydronic heating method such as radiant floor heating loops, central air handlers for forced air, and local zone fan coils for individual room heating. This energy can also be used to heat a pool or hot tub. In cooling mode, the unit reverses direction and cools the fluid. This cooler fluid can be used for air conditioning in a hydronic air handler like in a normal house, or through zone fan coils or even radiant floor cooling.
The unit consumes only 1/3 to 1/4 of the electricity it produces, saving up to 75% energy compared to reasonable electricity or natural gas.
