Air source heat pumps for hot tubs heat the water by extracting natural heat from the outside air. The heat pump fan draws air and directs it over the evaporator coil, which contains advanced liquid refrigerant. The air turns into a gas and is compressed to add heat. This hot gas passes through a heat exchanger, which transfers the heat in the hot gas to the water and heats it.
