Can an Air Source Heat Pump Cool
People are accustomed to utilizing heat pumps for winter heating and year-round hot water preparation. But with the ever-increasing demands of our customers, we have developed a standard heat pump solution for house cooling and pool water heating.
Cool down in summer
In summer, your heat pump can be used as a source of cooling. However, that doesn't mean bathing in cold water in summer. Due to the correct technical design of the connections, the cooling circuit can be separated from the heating and hot water production circuits, and the two circuits can be controlled separately according to current needs and requirements.
Cooling designs can be based on one of two basic variants:
1. Heating system auxiliary cooling
This variant can only be used in underfloor heating systems. Radiators are not suitable because cold water cannot adequately cool indoor air across the radiator surface. In addition, air moisture condensation may occur on radiator and duct surfaces.
In the case of underfloor heating, the heat from the sun shining on the floor is absorbed by the cold floor while cooling the entire surface of the room. However, this cooling method cannot achieve the same cooling comfort as traditional air conditioners. It is possible, however, that the room temperature is lowered by a few degrees, which may make the indoor climate more pleasant during the hot summer months.
The xCC conditioning system adjusts the cooling water temperature according to the indoor air temperature to prevent condensation of air humidity on the floor surface.
Advantages of this design:
1). Affordable purchase price
2). Easily expand existing or new floor heating systems
3). Combined with the recuperation that keeps the air circulating in the house, it eliminates the adverse physical effects of cold air falling and hot air rising
2. Cooling with fan coil
Using a fan coil or a fan-equipped convection unit in a heat pump system can achieve overall cooling comparable to an air conditioner. In this case, though, the acquisition price is higher compared to underfloor heating for cooling. The reason for the price increase is the price of the fan coil unit's separate cold water circuit and the fan coil unit itself.
Fan coil units can ensure:
Air cooling. Cool air is returned to the room by a fan. Each fan coil unit produces air humidity condensation. The condensate can be drained by gravity or collected in a container to evaporate. Alternatively the fan coil unit can be equipped with a condensate pump.
