Air source heat pump temperature settings
Heat pumps are one of the most efficient and energy-saving ways to heat
the home. There are some points to pay attention to when using heat pump
temperature settings. You want to ensure that the system operates in the most
efficient manner possible. This is not only better for the environment, but
also saves you money.
The unique operation mode of the heat pump:
To make better use of heat pumps, we must first understand how the heat
pump works. The operation of heat pumps is different from other forms of
heating systems. They are designed to heat or cool for a long time, rather than
quickly provide heat or lower the temperature when they are turned on. The
working mode of the heat pump is slow and durable.
The heat pump slowly maintains a stable home temperature:
The heat pump absorbs the heat in the air as a source of heat.
Therefore, it is cheaper and warmer to run them during the day than at night.
After all, it is much warmer during the day than at night.
The heat pump adjusts the indoor temperature slowly. Therefore, when you
need to change the temperature, it is best to adjust one to two degrees at a
time. After you increase the temperature, please see if you are satisfied with
this new setting. If the temperature changes too fast, the heat pump will not
be able to respond to your needs in time, and drastic temperature changes will
increase electricity consumption and increase the use cost of the heat pump.
Annual electrical space and hot water costs for an average two-bedroom
house
Air source heat pump with underfloor heating |
$1400 |
Air source heat pump with radiators |
$1700 |
Night storage heaters on Economy 7 |
$2200 |
Electric radiators and immersion hot water tank |
$3090$ |
When you don’t want calories:
Never shut down the heat pump completely. Don't think that it is a waste
of money if you are not running the heat pump. First of all, you need to know
that it takes a lot of heat to heat the entire room from a cold state to a
comfortable temperature. This means a lot of electricity bills. And this
process will take several days. Therefore, short-term heat waste is actually a
more cost-effective way to heat in winter.
At night: Lower the temperature to about 10-15°C, and then set it to
slowly rise in the morning, so that the room will be at a comfortable
temperature when you wake up.
Leave for 1-3 days: Let the heat pump system run as usual.
Leave for 5-7 days: The system should set the "holiday" or
"anti-frost" setting on the control panel so that the room
temperature can be lowered when you leave. If you walk away in cold weather,
this will also prevent the pipes from freezing.
In summer: your heat pump may be in "summer" mode, or you can
simply turn off the room thermostat. This means that heating will not continue,
but you will still get hot water. As autumn approaches, you can slowly increase
the heating temperature again.
If the heat pump is turned off...
If the power is cut off, the heat pump will shut down. If the power is
turned off for a long time, the heat pump needs to heat itself before it can
heat your house again. Please check your instructions, as this may happen
automatically, or you may need to choose a setting.
If you have a prepaid electricity meter, you may turn off the heat pump
when the electricity meter runs out. Therefore, always try to deposit money
into the meter, or consider replacing the meter and paying monthly or quarterly
bills.
Hot water tank:
The heat pump should heat your hot water tank to around 35-40°C.
However, this is not hot enough to kill any bacteria in the water tank.
Therefore, the storage tank should be heated to 60°C regularly every week-you
will notice a corresponding peak in electricity consumption.
Function introduction of indoor thermostat:
The user can adjust the device to set the desired temperature in the
properties.
The up and down arrows on the right allow you to adjust the temperature
of the house-press the up arrow to increase the temperature, and press the down
arrow to decrease the temperature.
The button on the top left (looks like a faucet); if necessary, press
this button to add one hour of hot water.
In the lower left corner, you will find the "Holiday Button".
Using this option will allow you to set the heating to start after a certain
period of time (up to 72 hours).
The battery in the wireless room thermostat is replaced every time it is
repaired, but if the battery needs to be replaced before the repair is due,
please use the link at the bottom of this page to contact our customer service
team.
Other considerations...
Insulation: Please do a good job of thermal insulation of the house to
avoid keeping the heat pump working all the time because the house cannot store
heat.
Heat dissipation: floor heating and heat pump are an excellent match. A
better heat dissipation system can use heat more effectively and reduce the
working time of the heat pump.
Control unit: The heat pump should be overhauled once a year. In order
to maintain the efficient operation of the heat pump.
Electricity costs: Generally, heat pumps are best operated at a single
rate, not economy7 (electricity costs are cheaper at night, but higher during
the day). Your power company can suggest which electricity price is suitable
for your use.
